Shore Lawn was founded in 2026 after years of operating under Cheek Gardening LLC, a family lawn business rooted in South Jersey since 1974. Shore Lawn is owned and operated by Ryan Cheek and his father, Tom Cheek Jr., and was created to focus exclusively on turf health, modern lawn care practices, and long-term results.
Our Story
Shore Lawn’s roots go back generations. Ryan Cheek’s grandfather, Tom Cheek, operated a lawn maintenance company in Margate, New Jersey before selling the business to lead the Atlantic City Expressway maintenance division. After that transition, Ryan’s father, Tom Cheek Jr., started his own lawn company at just 17 years old in 1974, laying the foundation for a decades-long family operation.

From an early age, Ryan worked alongside his father, gaining firsthand experience in lawn care operations and learning the importance of quality, consistency, and professionalism. As the business evolved, those principles became central—driving steady growth and long-term client relationships built on trust and visible results.
